Wentworth Candidate Watch: Dave Sharma




Dave Sharma is the current member of parliament (MP) for the federal electorate of Wentworth.  He was elected in the 2019 general election.

  • Adviser to the Minister for Foreign Affairs, the Hon. A Downer, from 2004 to 2006.

  • Political Counsellor at the Australian Embassy in Washington, USA, from 2006 to 2009.

  • Assistant Secretary (International Division), Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet from 2010 to 2012.

  • Assistant Secretary (Africa Branch), Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade from 2012 to 2013.

  • Australian Ambassador to Israel from 2013 to 2017.

  • Director at Kelly + Partners from 2018 to 2019.

House of Representatives or Senate? Dave is standing for election in the House of Representatives (lower house), for the seat of Wentworth in the 2022 federal election.

Party or Independent? Dave will run for Liberal Party of Australia.


Position on Issues?

  • Supports Australia meeting our Paris emissions reduction targets and supports more ambitious targets for 2030.

  • Supports finding a site for a second public high school in the East

  • Supports more public transport options and services and installing fast EV charging stations.

  • Against changes to negative gearing, franking credits and raising taxes.

  • Supports funding for the Arts community and travel agents during the pandemic.

  • Supports making childcare tax deductible for working parents

  • Supports more funding for local infrastructure projects, community hubs, public walkways, Moore Park cycle way, Paddington Greenway, facility upgrades for our local sporting clubs.

  • Supports a greater investment in support services for those experiencing domestic and family violence

  • Against over-development and supports the heritage listing of Centennial Park and Rushcutters Park, the return of Kippax Lake area to the local community, preserving Moore Park Public Golf Course and revitalising Bondi Junction.

Dave does not support honest opinions on his Facebook site. You should only make favorable comments. If you advise the Liberal party to stop the automatic coalition with the Nationals you get blocked from his site. I used to like this bloke, unbelievable. Well, be a happy loser at next election.
